The BEACON project

Cloud federation enables cloud providers to collaborate and share their resources to create a large virtual pool of resources at multiple network locations.

The research on SDN technologies, overlay networks and traffic engineering enables the instantiation and provisioning of networks across geographically dispersed clouds, and derives the integrated management cloud layer that enables an efficient and secure deployment of federated cloud applications.

Federated Cloud Networking workshop

Topics will include:

  • Cloud network federation models and architectures
  • Cross Datacenter SDNs
  • NFV for Cloud network federation
  • Datacenter Interconnect solutions
  • Traffic engineering for Cloud network federation
  • Overlay networks and VPNs
  • Security in Cloud network federations
  • Geographic location-aware high availability and elasticity
