Pr. Axel van Lamsweerde of Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium) has been awarded to decerned the highest software engineering distinction: the ACM SIGSOFT Outstanding Research Award.

Pr van Lamsweerde largely contributed to the field advancement of the field of requirement engineering, especially though the goal-oriented approach.

Among others, this prestigious distinction was previously awarded to decerned N. Wirth (Pascal), D. Parnas (software architecture), D. Harel (statecharts). Pr. van Lamsweerde closely associates with this award all the members who have been working with him over the years, among them the CETIC FAUST project developing formal tools for reasoning about goals.
