Compte tenu des défis croissants que révèle le secteur de la Santé, le CETIC a stratégiquement choisi de renforcer son expertise dans l’application des technologies de l’Information et de la communication dans le domaine de la santé, en particulier au travers de divers projets de recherche régionaux et européens.

L’Europe se trouve aujourd’hui confrontée à l’accroissement rapide du vieillissement de sa population (les plus de 65 ans représenteront 30% de la population d’ici 2050) et à la diminution du nombre d’actifs. A cela s’ajoute la pénurie de personnel médical et para-médical, démontrant ainsi que notre manière actuelle de gérer les soins de santé et prendre en charge les patients doit évoluer.

Les Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication appliquées au monde de la Santé (eHealth) occupent désormais un rôle central afin d’adresser ce défi sociétal d’envergure.
